First race complete well done to everyone (racers, sponsors, marshals and the team), results should be up on the website in the next couple of days www.brownbacksracing.co.uk
What we need now is (constructive!) feedback/ suggestions for things to improve the event.
Obvious ones are:
practice the prize giving! (the only bit we didn't rehearse)
More people manning registration/ sign-on (we have this covered and we plan to "fast-track" pre-entered riders)
Explain the format better
etc etc email info@brownbacksracing.co.uk
only 14 days to the next race so get your pre-entries in
see you on the start line!!
how nice was the weather though!!!!!!!!!!!! face is sun burnt to hell ha ha
yeah
if you're going to have weather like that you need to have an ice cream van there ๐
i thought the racing format was good, the course was good - just enough places for overtaking but enough singletrack and techy bits to keep everyone interested
maybe (and i have no idea how you could work this into a race) let the "have a go heros" opt-in to the tricker sections if they wanted to? As I say I don't know how you could fit that into the race, it's more of a pipe dream to get everyones skills progressing as the series goes on...
i guess it's a shame the "arena" was down at the bottom of the access track away from the race course, but i guess thre's not all that much you can do about that?
i'm sure the delay in the prize giving was just a one off hitch - the longer you wait the more people naturally filter off home, which is a bit of a shame. Awarding prizes for "having it large", "muddyest bike" and the like are good ideas though.
i like the ice cream van idea!
Would it not be possible to have the "arena" up near the finish line, like they had last years opening race event? They also had the start at that point too.
The event "village" could possibly be moved but its a "swings and roundabouts" type issue
one thought is to see what the weather is doing, if its bad the bottom has distinct advantages due to being sheltered
On a nice sunny day the top is better, but then vehicle control becomes a problem etc etc
something to mull over though
not that much help, but i thought the whole thing was great. i didn't enter because i'm full of cold and i wouldn't have even got up the road from the starting line, and we got there too late to offer to marshall but still, it was a top morning. my head got properly burnt though, i need to get a new hat!
Thanks, encourage more to enter its the riders that make it, the organisation is only going to get slicker. Pre-entry makes everything easier and we are planning a "fast track" sign-on for pre-entered riders
The feedback on the other thread about the "Have-a-go Hero" course design is great, just what we wanted to achieve.
How many riders were in the "racer " race, and whats the maximum allowed.
I am going to enter the next one (if its not full) but need to get a new frame as I snapped mine last week, so sticking to RR till I find another ๐
Cheers
there was an ice cream van there... ๐
i know i bought one on my way home.
๐ฏ
where?!?
i was desperate for a twister...i'd have made do with a 99 flake, but ended up with some (admittedly v tasty) flapjack from the coffee people
We had no issue with unwanted vehicles gaining access at last years event. We just made sure that all concessions or sponsors vehicles were on site before a set time and then secured the barrier half way up after that time. Anyone who was late had to walk up and ask for someone to let them in.
We had dry weather for last year too so can't comment on what it would be like in the wet.
hiding behind the Leisure Lakes Van.
All the other races I've done have been on grassy, forestry stuff and not really technical in anyway so it was nice to have a bit of interest. I agree it would be good to have the 'arena' higher up.
A friend who was racing dropped his bottle at the beginning of the first lap, top came off and lost all his go juice - he continued to race sans water ! Impressive stuff - I went through a litre and still felt dehydrated at the end.
Great event, well done chaps!
