anyone any idea what conditions are like at lee quarry at the moment, snow wise?

didn't realise it was less than an hour from the GFs, and she is keen for some cycling tomorrow...

would be good to know how open it is.

also, how is it for someone not scared to try techy stuff, but through illness is not all that fit? i get the impression they are short routes rater than long ones, right?

thanks

I think Lee Quarry is superb but its the last place i'd want to ride if it was icy! Although when i think about, there's only the cobbled corner thats all slippy rock, i think?

300mm of snow fell yesterday and is still standing, not a hope of anything up there for a while yet I would say (can see it from my back window)

I can't even get off my drive, I think you'll struggle pushing your bike up the access track. Even the main roads round here have still got snow on them. Apparently Rossendale council has run out of grit and won't get any more before the 11th of January and the thought of sending the snow ploughs out doesn't seem to have occured to them. Fantastic day though, bright blue skys and sunshine.

local gritting is done by Lancashire CC not Rossendale BC

Their local depot is at the foot of Lee Quarry

It's interesting how that a*se from the local government association isn't on the radio anyore!

ah well, thanks anyway.

if lytham had anything like any snow it wouldn't be so bad, but not even a dusting here - the biggest period of snow i can ever remember and i'm stuck in seemingly the only place north of the watford gap without any bloody snow >:(
