Just been tweaking the gears in the dinning room which has 3 led capsules in the ceiling. While running up and down the cassette, it looked like there were about 10,000 teeth on the cassette. Is this normal? Will it be the same with the ones I've fitted in the garage or will the frosted cover make a difference?

There might be a strobe effect..

Eco cfl's would be cheaper.

Already bought and fitted I'm afraid. But the garage is still a WIP so not had a spinning wheel in there.

Is that a spy shot of the new sram eagle cassette?

Not sure of the technical reason but when you see a video of a car with LED brake lights they appear to be flashing - has something to do with the frame rate and the fact that LEDs flick on and off very quickly - assume the cassette was creating a similar effect

Perfectly normal, it's due to the PWM - Pulse width modulation, basically the controller circuit turns the LED's on and off very quickly in order to achieve a dimmer effect or to save power.

Hard to say what the ones in your garage will do, I'd guess they'd probably be the same. Apparently you can test it by waving a pointed finger back and forth in front of the light, but I've never found that to be a very reliable test myself.

I've just fitted some MR16 LED's in the garage and they interfere with the DAB radio, I'm not sure if it's the LED's themselves or the PSU.

Try night-riding with your Cree headlight turned down to a lower brightness, while following a wheel in the wet. The flying droplets of water look amazing.

I was building a new PC, using a head torch as the light in the room was crap. I was totally convinced the fans were all broken because they were spinning erratically at about 50rpm, then I realised it was the flicker of the LED!

It's not strobing btw- most people who're sensitive to strobes, epileptics and the like, aren't affected by LED flicker, it's too fast. But some folks do find it uncomfortable.
