I'm off to uni and unfortunately have to leave my mountain bike at home and wondered if anyone had any tips for leaving bikes for prolonged periods of time (other than a good clean and lube) to stop any unforeseen issues arising. Bear in mind I probably won't be back before Christmas.

I heard that hanging the bike upside down stops fork seals drying out over long periods of storage time

Oil the chain, don't leave the tyres flat. Pretty much nothing

Tell your mum that if she rides it, she's going in a home when she's old.

Which uni are you going to and why do you have to leave your bike at home? You may well regret not having it around, contacting the uni cycling club via facebook or similar might get you some information about storage etcif that's a problem?
