Shame to see Greg Henderson abandon due to his injuries. Been doing a great job this tour.

Not much else going on today.

Apparently Contador crashed in the neutral zone!

Dear Lord. Send them all on a day with Jedi.

(unless of course Nibbles threw a bidon at him?)

Yesssss Cav. Well chuffed for him.

Did Griepel at his own game, there - It's usually the Gorilla hanging off the back of Cav then nipping out of the slipstream at the last minute.

Luca Paolini suspended for cocaine use

Wonder what the levels consumed were and how much difference it makes to performance.. cant imagine it would really help that much unless you were partying over the cobbles.....

It's funny that in other sports it is usually things like cocaine that earn a ban (hardly any blood testing in most other sports) and these sports are outraged (e.g. the Bath rugby bans) but willing to overlook any performance enhancing stuff (or just not test for it in the first place). A cyclist tests positive for cocaine and the cycling world's first thought is "meh, it not performance enhancing so who cares" 😀 I wonder if he has been partying with Boonen lately? 😆 More likely a bit of old school Pot Belge 🙄

For me that was one of Cav's best TdF stage wins. Uphill, going freestyle with the sprint and diving for a gap before owning the gorilla. Goood job Cav.

I dunno, that's the type of stuff Cav does very well, and he's done it time and time again. Like Sagan he's a very good tactician in a sprint and fends well for himself. I sometimes wonder if the rigid structure of the sprint trains work against him. Last couple of losses, it's really just been him and Renshaw fighting into a headwind leading out everyone else. Played it perfectly today.

My wife has been saying for a couple of days now that Cav has been going too early.

Today he leaves it late and gets the win.

She is available for strategic racing advice at very reasonable considering (but totally extortionate in absolute terms) rates.

Well done Cav and well done for making it about TM in the interviews.

Great win that, Sagan is the new GVA.

[waits for Specilaized to point out his first win came after swapping to the new bike]

The @etixx_quick_step team seems more unified than ever. Today, @markcavendish's win on the new #VengeViAS felt like a collective weight off the entire teams shoulders. The first of many wins to come. #iamspecialized

Ha! Let's see if he keeps using it when it rains or in the hills, he could at least swap to a Tarmac in the hills to make it and make us think it's not the shit brakes...

Paolini, a very silly boy. Rules are very clear about in/out competition use of recreational drugs. His job to know that sort of thing and what the safe window is. Unless he's got a problem then that's just careless and I'd be pretty pissed off if I was paying his wages.

Blobby, it might not just be for fun. Given his age a bit of pot belge to get through a race wouldn't be unthinkable

At this stage of the tour, and for such an old school concoction that is easily detectable, unthinkable in its stupidity!
