Hargroves cycles fareham store: so much is written about poor customer service at LBS these days so thought I would balance that with a positive experience at Hargroves Fareham branch. Went in for advice on my rather rubbish self build and the chap who helped was excellent. Looked the bike over, advised on a few tweaks, didn't try a hard sell, nothing was a problem, thought he might get a bit p!$$ed as i was asking lots of questions with no intention of spending but he just kept on giving. Due to this level of CS II was happy to spend a few quid on a bleed kit, tube and some pads. Would normally have trawled the Internet for these but with such good customer service I will be back more often. Many thanks.

Interesting how a positive report generates **** all in the way of response 🙄

It's Saturday night, most the users on here are being bathed in readyness for stories. The others are drinking

I guess people expect at least reasonable service & hope for better, so when they get it they don't mention it.

It's when people get service worse than expected that things kick off.

Not saying it's right, but I think that's how it is.

I have had good & average service from my lbs; never bad service though, which is nice. Had a broken spoke fixed last weekend & was charge £7 for the spoke, new rim tape & labour, which included taking the tyre/tube off & putting it back on. I was expecting at least £15!

Hmmmm well I was pleasantly surprised and hopefully if we shout a little more about how good customer service can bring more revenue, then maybe the instances of it will increase.

I have had so much rubbish CS in hotels, restaurants, and shops in this country, I am easily impressed when someone makes an effort.

Answering lots of Qs with a good attitude is par for the course in the lbs I work at and no doubt many others.

Best not to be too blatant if you're not going to buy a thing.

Actually that read really badly, sorry. I didn't enter the shop with the intention to bleed them dry of info and walk out then surf the net for cheaper offerings. I didn't actually know if I needed anything rather than knowing i would buy elsewhere.

I think the point is that had I been subjected to the sort of service that was discussed in the thread yesterday then I wouldn't have spent a penny.
