It looks terrible, if you're really bothered about protecting it, mount it on the top tube right behind the steerer / head tube

Looking at the picture it is simply a mount intended to inflict the maximum amount of harm. Probably to a knee.

How you gonna see it way down there? If you don't need to see it put it in your pocket or backpack. If you need to see it put it on your bars. Do you crash a lot or something?
