Anyone own the latest Escapade - with the tapered head tube?

I've sold a whole bunch of stuff and tempted by one of these, but suspicious of the headset.

Firstly, it's not cups, it's integrated / drop-in bearings.

Secondly, it appears to use an IS41 top bearing, which seems to be a bit less common than the IS42 used by lots of similar 'gravel' bikes - Kinesis, Ribble's new bikes, Loads of Planet X frames, All city Cosmic Stallion, etc.

Thoughts?

Cheers.

Got 3 bikes in the house with that style of head tube. 2 have been fine, (oldest is 4 years old now and not been touched since I built it), one suffered premature bearing failure due to the lower bearing cup not having been reamed (it was a sample frame at a very cheap price that I built in a hurry). Now it’s been sorted and feels lovely with new Hope bearings in.

TL;DR - it’ll be fine…

Ironically I'm looking at the Escapade right now. How does it compare with the Tripster? I can custom build a Tripster to a similar spec to the Escapade complete with blingy Hope hubs for about the same price. Which one would you guys pick? Does anyone know the weight of the Escapade?

tripster has bolt thru rear and is lighter being alu. escapade has more stand over so more room for a dropper for more interesting off road adventures

tripster will take a wider tire (45mm easily in 700c guise)

I'm gagging to hit the button on an Escapade but the one thing that is stopping me is the lack of rear bolt thru as it means I can't share a wheel set with my roadbike. I'm hoping it gets a refresh soon to include it...and a titanium version would be nice too!

But I love my Roadrat so the extra small amount of weight of the frame is not felt, I love the ride of the RR but since I've got drops on it I'm sure the Escapade geo would be even better.

I've had no issues with drop in headsets on aluminium frames over several years so very much doubt it would be an issue in a steel frame

I found my (previous Gen) Escapade a bit short on top for my preference. I should've gone for a RoadRat and added a drop bar to that I reckon. Instead I had to run 120/130mm stem.
I expect the latest gen is a wee bit longer?
