[#4618875]

I got made redundant - on Monday I'll not be commuting to work for the first time in 20years. Rather than sit around or ride close to home I want to head off for a few days somewhere completely different.

I'm based in Oxfordshire and generally ride the Chilterns. Where can I base myself to take in some easy to access trails? As I'm likely to be by myself I had better not be absolutely in the middle of nowhere. Also prefer not a complete mudbath! Don't need overly technical (hard tail and fitter than competant).

Any help appreciated.

Sincerely sory for your situation.

Now, South Wales beckons.

Or better yet, if Stuart who runs Forest Freeride is still on here, get in touch with him. He's got a cool barn conversion that people stay in when they do courses with him, and I believe he leads rides into deepest Wales.

south wales or one of the sierra navada holiday companies. Any other time of year id say drive down to the alps but you could still do that anyway if you ski?!

Pop along to Bristol. You've got Leigh Woods and Ashton Court for all-weather trails and access over the bridge to South Wales and the centres there. Plenty to see and do in Bristol if the weather turns really poo and you could ride to Bath and back on the cycle path if you want a fitness ride without mud.

Scanned that as New South Wales and though a bit extreme for some easy access trailriding ๐Ÿ™‚

Good shout. Stuart's a really nice guy and the little barn thing would be perfect.

Thanks - I'm not too pissed off - pretty good package. Good enough that Lavatrax is sounding attractive for next week! ๐Ÿ˜€
