[#12938138]

It has been ages since I've had an 11spd setup on any of my bikes, but found an X1 shifter and mech in a box I'd forgotten about at home the other day so seems churlish to spend out on new 12spd stuff.

But what's the largest cassette cog I can realistically get away with on the X1 mech? It was designed for 42T maximum, I know from experience they work OK with a 44T cog. Anyone tried with a 46...? I don't want the faff of buying new mech cage or anything like that, otherwise I might as well just buy 12spd.

It's going on a hardtail, so won't have to deal with chain growth on a full sus at least...

Garabuk suggest the 10-46 works fine but 10-50 needs their cage.

Thank you

Hadn't thought about Garbaruk, was looking at the Sunrace 10-46 xD drive cassette but can't find any further info about it, but Garbaruk's website is very helpful thank you.

I'm running a 46 on a Sram Apex road mech! Worked ok-ish as a simple swap but perfect once I'd added a hanger extender. Surely an MTB mech would be as good too?
