Does anyone have any pictures of a large cotic bfe, or even a soul? Dont think Ive seen any, most seem to be of mediums or smalls. Im thinking about changing from the medium I have at the moment, to a large, and wouldnt mind seeing how "big" they look fully built.
Also, how do they ride? Are they still "chuckable" or are they only really suitable for getting the miles in?
My large Soul frame is "out for delivery" according to the nice folks at DHL.
I realise this probably doesn't help you much, but... WOOOHOOO
Its alrite for some, eh
I have very nearly finished building up a large Soul. No pictures as yet, and I'm out tonight, but I can sort you out with some pictures tomorrow.
Built it up more as a lightweight race bike with 100 mm Sids, flat bar and pro II / 717 wheels. Just need to trim the brake cables which are doing my nut in, and it's good to go.
Up in the Lakes a lot, so if you want to see it in the flesh, give me a shout.
First impressions, very light, should be really fun to ride. The only the only downside I've found is that the back wheel is a right pain in the a*se to get out. The qr skewer seem to catch on the derailleur, which means I have to take the skewer out to get the wheel out. No idea whats going on there.
Can give you a pic of my medium when it is finished later. But canny do large sadly.
looks good though!
Have a large BFe with me at work today.
I can take a photo and email it over to the address in your profile it that helps.
(Never been able to get my head around uploading photos on here).
Trailofdestruction, that sounds good, it would be nice to have a spin on one but organising it is another matter!
thebikechain, I already have a medium, thinking about "swapping it out" for a large. Post a pic if it makes you happy though!
FieldMarshall, go for it if you can dont mind the hassle.
Pictures sent, it's a large with u-turn revelations, I'm 6'1" ish with a 35" inseam and it's ace
Likewise, pic emailed across.
Large with U-turn Sektors, set at 150mm.
I'm 6'2" with 33cm inside leg.
If I'm honest I'm finding it a tad long in the top tube, even when running a 50mm stem.
I also find it quite harsh. Not sure if that is due to the frame or the forks. But it is not as supple as my P7. I wouldnt want to ride it as an all day bike, unless of course it was "all day coming downhill"! Then I think it would be ace.
Thanks for the pic's, I'll have a look when I check my emails.
I'm 6'2"ish, with about a 35" inside leg. The medium I have a minute just feels a bit short for proper xc stuff, especially after riding a road bike for so long. I would probably be better off on a Soul but the BFe is a bit cheaper and all my current parts would bolt straight on.
If anyone has one for sale, let me know.
I'm 6' 3''ish
Her is mine as its evolved.
100mm travel, 100mm stem, straight post:
115mm travel, 80mm stem, layback post
Current guise: 120mm travel, 80mm stem, layback post
The pictures all show 100mm of post still in the frame.
Give me an email with some dates when you're around and we can sort something out. I'm 6'1 ish with a 33" inside leg, so pretty similar. Only really ridden it on the road as a bit of a test, but I think it will work best as a true XC, "wheels on the ground" kind of bike. I wouldn't like to throw it down Helvellyn, although I'm sure people have. I'll sort some pics out later and mail them over.
The above looks good, I think I'd like a layback post with a short stem ideally.
Trailofdestruction, Im based in the lakes so a test ride shouldnt be a problem, I always seem to be short of time at the moment. Let us know if your planning any rides around the grizedale aread and I might be able to meet you.
Just send you a mail with some pics in mate.
I am just shy of 6' 3" with a 34 inch inside leg and I ride a large Soul with a laidback post and 50mm stem.
As noted above it feels great riding uphill and downhill with the wheels planted on the ground. I mainly ride my local trails, but I did take it down to Glentress last weekend and it coped well with the blue and the red quite adequately, but I did not push it hard on any of the more technical/jump bits.
I bought it second-hand and it originally had an 80mm stem on it and a straight seatpost, but I quickly put a 50mm stem on it as I prefer the feel of a shorter stem. This made it handle better, but I ended up with numb hands quite quickly so I then bought the laid back seat post to try and take the weight off my hands a bit and that seems to work.
It's only my second MTB and I don't have experience of riding lots of different types of bike, but I am happy with it.
was over at my lbs today they had a cotic soul as a demo bike in large
could give them a call to give it a try as there is a trail nearby
Heres mine 6'4" 90mm stem.

Soon to be up for sale ๐
One of the more shallow reasons that I got a Cotic was that they don't look like a gate in the large size. I'm asmidgw under 6'4" and with a straight post and 80mm stem it fits me a treat, and is still as chuckable as anything I've ridden. They're so adjustable too. I reckon 120mm fork is perfect most of the time, but wider bars, bigger tyres and a bit more travel and they'll go down most things as fast as a lot of full sussers.
I'm 6'4'' and have a large with 100-130 uturn revelations and layback post. Fits perfectly and inspires a lot more confidence than my old previous bike. Brilliant bikes.
