[#12146646]

I have a job in Glasgow next Friday and want to ride somewhere in the Lake District on the way home Saturday, can anyone recommend a good route with great descents, currently looking at doing this one.
Patterdale, Lake District (MBUK 325) https://my.viewranger.com/route/details/NzgxMzE=

Thanks

Lakes mtb
Flat tyres
Fat tyres too

Be aware grizedale is a mess.

Oh and pedal North

The only bit I know is the Ulswayer shore. It's really really a thing. Either the best or worst trail in the world. But to me it's far from a let your brakes off descent

I'd maybe look at the Borowdale Bash for something technical but more conventional

If you dont want to go too far off the M6 you could do the route from Sedburgh up over the Howgill Fells, it'll be clear of trees.

That Paterdale one has some great riding, but it seems like bit criminal not to include the Cockpit to Howtown descent if you're in the area. Especially as you will drive past it to get to that route.

Start near Pooley Brudge at the end of Ullswater. Head eastish up to The Cockpit.
Then head down the Bridleway to Howtown.
Then tag on your route
Then back up to Pooley.

Thanks all, I will be checking out the rides on FatTyres. Ideally want epic views and descents with around 3,500-4,500 ft of elevation I’ll be on the Geometron so won’t be climbing quickly, but happy to sit and pedal for ages.

Check out trailfinder mtb on you tube great routes in the lakes with strava links too. I’ve done a couple they were both spot on.

I'd second TrailFinder.

You could park up on the eastern side of Ullswater and do the shore path and road south to Hartsop. Then up to The Knott (hike-a-bike for the last bit!) then north over Loadpot and down to the Cockpit, turn left heading SW back to the shore. It’s a fast descent from Loadpot and an awesome view from the High St range.
