Got a weeks holiday in the lakes a week on Friday and the Mrs has given the OK for me to take the bike so I can get out one day. As this is our first time to the lakes, I'm not sure what the best option is for a ride, do I just go to Whinlatter or would I be better doing a natural route.
If it's natural is there anything from that's rideable from Windemere as we're staying there?
roll down to the ferry and do claife/grizedale
or
Grunt up the hill a bit and do Garburn/green quarter
How technical do you like it and do you mind carrying your bike?

There is a good trouser shop in Kendal ๐
Dejavu, it seems every single day we have a thread like this asking about lakes routes.
Ha ha Postierich, well we do have a 5 month old with us so it's not like I can just take the bike and bugger off every day as much as I'd love too.
I'm quite happy riding technical stuff and more than happy hike-a-biking if needs be.

I've seen two of these posts just this week. The Lakes is a popular destination, glad I live there.
I second what the thestabiliser said, both good options.
Great, I take it both of thestabiliser's routes are easy enough to find/follow and is either a better option than the other and I won't feel like my Spitty is too much bike on either route?
Spitty will be fine round grizedale etc probably about right i'd say, there's loads of routes available here's one found on gpsies.com

I think the answer is Garburn Pass. Could be done from Ambleside. Not that long but enough to make it feel like a proper ride
Then the langdale thing.

It can be cut short for really quick blast
Grizedale and Claife would be perfect or Jenkins Crag to Troutbeck over Garburn etc
I am just off to meet some bearded type on fat bikes in Ambleside for some nightlife action.
