Am going to be staying near Grange in Borrowdale for a few nights next week and would appreciate any suggestions for rides with my 13 year old son. We'll probably do Whinnlatter again but would like to do a biggish natural ride as well. I've done the Bash before myself but that may be a bit too techy and around Skiddaw would involve too much road.
For reference he's a strong capable rider (I can barely keep up!) who can cope with most trail centre (Hamsterley, Chopwell, Whinnlatter) reds and blacks. Many thanks.
Hi you could probably t the back of skiddaw loop park / ride to Keswick then head up to threlkeld
the nice route along the old railway is shut but you can go via castle rigg stone circle.
From here turn left up a steep long road climb to the blencathra centre then onwards up the valley.
For uour return either go up to skiddaw house then come back or simply turn back on the path to skiddaw flank to Latrig.
There’s some nice single track and a fair bit of exposure in places so keep an eye open.
The decent from latrig is good but can be busy with walkers
have fun
Thanks NCB looks good, just what I was after.
