[#11281157]

So I had planned we’d take in some grizedale off piste tomorrow but having just blasted round the trail centre it’s like a pond out there. From what I hear of the off piste here it’s a bit fruity and I think my fella, who isn’t as gnarrrrr as me, will kill me if I try to get him down it tomorrow. I have grizedale parkamoor Loop saved up but I hear they’ve sanitised it so maybe not worth doing now? Anything else locally that may perhaps be more weather friendly than say walna scar and nan Bield that I was hoping to do.

Depends which off-piste, the old-school rocky bridleways hold up well and the Viking will be OK, but the newer tracks and some of the enduro ones will be a handful in the wet.

Dunno how well you know it, but something like North Face climb > Viking > Lawsons climb > Parkamoor > Three Witches > Breasty Haw > Red Mist > Hole in Wall > Up the Fox > Baby heads to visitor centre would be a solid wet weather option.

Nan Bield will be fine if it's rainy though, just a bit soggy as it flattens out lower down.

@chakaping Cheers don’t know it all just used strava heatmaps to plot something locally having heard good stuff. Don’t suppose I can ask STW kudos points and you’d have something like that plotted or be able to?

@duncancallum looks a good loop but I fear 25 miles will be too much for him if I want to get another ride out of him on Tuesday!!

Bottom of name beild will be boggy in this.

Off piste was slippy but not too bad at points

Winds up tomorrow as well but is looking brighter

If you want a nice loop what about loughrigg fell from elterwater?

Yeah I've got that one saved already actually as something apparently 'moderate'.

I was in Grizedale today - it was absolutely rotten.

Grizedale off piste can be full on, but it doesn't have to be, there is all sorts to ride, and even the bridleway trails are way way better than the northface trail. As per chakaping said, stick to the rocky and more chilled out stuff and you'll be fine. Bedrock will be greasy slippy tomorrow when/if they start to dry out.

I'd give nan bield a miss tomorrow - it'll be soggy, windy and running slow. Big slog.

Whinlatter is ace for a trail centre, and holds up in the wet, but about 40 mins from grizedale.

Chakaping is on the money for a wet day. In fact I did that ride today.
