I have stayed in Ambleside loads of times and will he there in April again, however will be going hack again with another friend and would like another place to stay with a few real ale pubs. Anybody suggest somewhere, thanks.
What sort of accommodation are you looking for - camping, b&b, hotel, cottage?
What sort of riding do you want to do?
Pretty much every area of the Lakes has some decent riding and real ale pubs.
Coniston / Hawkshead.

Lovely pub, camping over the road - beautiful area, not rammed, plenty of hiking and biking around!
Looking for B&B and we are planning to upload some routes onto memory map, I know there are plenty of routes to choose from various sources. Been to the lakes a few times on Hike & Bike and done the trail centers, so plan is to do a couple of the big rides.
