[#6058508]

I did a quick forum search but to my surprise not much came up.

I'm off to the Lakes for a few days mid-week and will need somewhere to stay. A B&B or small hotel would be good. I'm not a camper or bunkhouse-ist though and it would be nice to avoid big chains. Any recommendations in the Central/South East Lakes?

Walking distance to a good pub would be essential though!

Cheers in advance

Cheers Ivan,

Anyone else? The collective wisdom the SingltrackMind must be able to write a guidebook on this one, surely?

We recently stayed in Brathwaite, just outside Keswick. £55 for bb & evening meal!
Excellent value, think they even do deals where the 3rd night is free.

(only 5 minutes to whinlatter as well)

+1 for YHA. Will be leaving in 50mins for 3 days in the Lakes too. Ambleside, Patterdale, Grasmere are all worthy in the area. The Anchorage BnB in Ambleside is very bike friendly and good value. Plenty of independent Bunkhouses etc too. Go choose..
