Off to the lakes tomorrow and planning on heading to Nan Bield on the way to my patents in Ambleside. Anyone know what the conditions are like and recommend best start point. Also looking for ideas for a Saturday ride - currently thinking Borrowdale Bash. Any other ideas. Looking for a bit of A hike a bike with decent single track descents. Thanks in advance....

free of snow and ice on Nan Bield passes, but howling South Westerly (50mph) will make the Nan Bield South descent (the best bit) pretty grim. Borrowdale Bash will be fine, or on Ullswater the Lakeshore/Beda Fell/Boredale Hause loop is pretty weatherproof and NE Lakes will be driest in a SW wind.

Was up in Sadgill and Kentmere last night and the soggy boggy bits are wet and and sloppy - and I would guess the bottom run past the reservoir to the farm will be pretty sloppy. The snow looked patchy from where we were on the lower bits.
Will be hopefully heading up there on Saturday

I wentfor a walk over Gatesgarth this afternoon, a fair bit of snow at the higher reaches and a still breeze to say the least blasting from Sadgill to Haweswater, no bike tracks in the Snow,
