So, looks like I'm spending a couple of days in Kendal early next week. If I was to wangle a free day and happened to have my hardtail with me, what would be a good half, 3/4-day route near Kendal? I'm more into twisty, rocky singletrack but haven't done any riding in the Lakes (shamefully) so any tips appreciated. Thanks.
Something from Staveley probably as it's only a few miles down the road from Kendal. Could do Staveley-Gatesscarth-Nan Bield, maybe include Garburn Pass. Have a look at the bogtrotters site for routes.

Various Lake District stuff listed there.
If you're staying in Kendal pop into Evans Cycles, they have route maps, guide books etc and the staff will be able to mark up a map to show you the best bits. Staveley is a good local starting point, home of both Wilf's Cafe and Wheelbase bike shop.
