[#2037121]

A few of us are staying in Windermere this weekend. Not been riding there before so was wondering if anyone could give me some idea of where best to go, or even better if anyone's riding to show us around for a couple of hours?

Anyone know anything about his route ? Any other good websites?
Thanks!

The route you mentioned is great, but best done in the other direction imho, theres some nicer(more typical) rides in the central lakes around the Langdales,Hodge close quarry,Iron Keld...etc etc

Bike treks (Ambleside) or Wheelbase (Stavley)should be your first stop they will advise you on routes, and might be able to fix you up with a guide/local ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have a great time..

That route is nice but I'd probably do it the other way round. Can get very boggy in places too.

From Windermere you could take the road towards Ings, then turn take the bridleway past High House to Kentmere, over Garburn Pass to Troutbeck, then over through Skelghyl and Jenkin Crag down to Ambleside - back along the road to Windermere.

Also, you could take your bike across on the ferry at Bowness - there is some fantastic riding around Claife, which can be linked up with Grizedale for a longer ride - almost all the bridleways are good round there.

๐Ÿ’ก ride out towards Ambleside on the road, turn right up to Watershead, up Jenkin Crag (so you get to see what your coming down on the return), High Skelghyll to Troutbeck, head out the back of Limefitt Park to ride up to Garburn Pass, descend down to Kentmere (tea available at top of village up a very steep driveway), from Kentmere take bridleway towards Halt Wood head out towards High House farm, turn right on road and then turn off road on right towards Dubbs reservoir and then pick up your outward route for the return journey.
