Anyone been to the Lakes recently? Is there still a lot of snow around? Thinking of a long weekend riding at the end of February having decided southern Spain was too expensesive ๐Ÿ™ Would rather the rides didn't turn into too much walking through icy snow

Garburn Pass had ice on the top section but most of it was rideable.

Most of the ice is turning slushy now so unless we get another really cold spell it will be fine. Fingers crossed for a good summer (-:

Been off work last week. Got out loads, sick of bike cleaning though!
They've improved steadily over the week. Done the Ullswater Singletrack from Chris Gores Book & there was lots of snow on the tops. But fun to ride. Then done the Borrowdale Bash on Monday that was snowy on top. But talking to someone at work today & they done it yesterday & all clear. Whinlatter on Saturday that was muddy but fine, re-opened the south loop apart from the top technical bit. Then went to Skiddaw House yesterday great ride, all clear lots of MTBers out.

I would check 2 days before. Above 300m there is snow and ice in patches (was up Garburn yesterday and live in Kendal) but its melting fast and a lot warmer today. However we often get snow in Feb / early March without much warning. Hodge Close / Loughrigg was clear on Sunday and most of the other low level routes are also clear.

Been up there today (Keswick area) and like everywhere else it's melted fast. There was only patches of snow above approx 700m on Glaramara.

Cheers everyone. Obviously I'll be checking the forecasts nearer the time as well. Do any of you have any bike-friendly accommodation you can recommend in Keswick?
