Looks like Lady Cannings is/was on fire last night. Hope everyone is ok and they've got it under control. It rained here overnight and I'm about 10 miles SE, so hopefully that's helped things.

Somebody posted on Ride Sheffield Facebook that it was the moorland along towards burbage rather than the woods. Wouldn’t be like the star to mis report it at all. Just copying social media feeds and pretending it’s journalism…

Suddenly I don't feel so bad that this mornings road ride has been delayed due to some definitely not forecast rain!

Wessenden Moor above Marsden/Meltham was on fire last night again.

That's 5 significant fires this year so far in or around Marsden Moor

Started at the ox stones. So it will be a man made fire. We have lit the odd fire up there. On New Year’s Eve. Not when everywhere is tinder dry…

Sheeeeeeit that looks bad. Glad to hear it's not actually Cannings but terrible for the moor. Where there have been burned out cars up there the heather hasn't grown back over two years.

My ride on Monday was stopped as I came across a still burning campfire at Wharncliffe crags. Managed to put it out using all of my water, collected all of the rubbish and rebuilt the dry stonewall they'd taken down to build the fire and seats. I really despair.

Daveylad has it in one; half term week.
Why on earth there isn’t government enthusiasm for just banning disposable BBQ’s I really don’t know. Every year we go through the same nonsense. Every…sodding…year…
It’s not good enough for the Fire Service, notational park authorities and mountain rescue to keep banging the drum, they have no real authority…grumble…

Stop school holidays full stop. Anti social behaviour sky rockets everywhere. Keep the little sods in the classroom
