Anyone got any experience of these? Seen some good deals around. I've been looking for a reasonably priced s/h Dawg but without much luck. How do these compare?

Friend got one, tis rather nice. Had a tire kick of it, rode it around the carpark, then got back on my XTC with SID's....not my cup of tea. Felt like a Kona, aka spongy in a good way.

You'll probably want to budget for a replacement shock for it though, I think they are quite exspensive for what they are too.

A friend picked one up for under a grand. very very good bike for that money. he really likes it and there was noticibly less bob while climbing then my bike and smooth out of the saddle pedaling showed little bob too. I was impressed. Didn't slow him down any on the downhill sections too. A couple of cheap parts but some also some really good bits.

Good buy in my book if you get it at sale prices.

Kona Tanuki's are / were the hire bikes at Afan. We hired one for a non MTB mate to have a go on and she bloomin loved it. Pretty cheap but does what it says on the tin even if the FS design is pretty old hat.

ive got the 2011 tanuki i got it new for £850 last april. judging by the other FS bikes i tested before buying this i think i got a real bargain the rear shock was not rated well in some reveiws but ive abused it every weekend without any problems. i think i seen in mbr magazine the 2012 model has a much better rear shock and it was rated very well.

Coyote, think he got it from CRC. it was the one with Sektor forks, XT rear mech, Elixer brakes, the DL or Deluxe model. Normally around 1500-1700 I think? Total bargain. I wouldn't have paid full price for it though.

A few of our staff have them - they seem good wee things. DL(?) model Rear shock is better than it should be for an own brand, Secktors also seem OK, but less good. Reasonably stiff, nice riding position.
My extensive* test suggests that they are good bikes and fun with a 'more fun than it should be for this money' sprightlyness to them.
