[#5058096]

I sold my Yelli Screamy on Monday and headed to AWCycles in Reading. I check out a few road bikes that I was in the market for as well as having a ride on a 27.5'' bike. Turns out that 27.5'' was lovely so I placed an order for it- the Kona Explosif 650b. Ordered Tuesday and delivered and setup today. Fantastic and quick service from the AWCycles guys, thanks. This is my first ever complete build bike that I've bought so it was a bit of an experience and a rather nice one at that. Note the rim and tyre logos are lined up ๐Ÿ˜†

Quick ride before it got dark and the 17'' fits beautifully. Needs a little adjustment with saddle angle and stem spacers. Really well made frame with such a nice finish. Really easy to manual and flick. Lovely.

So, here are a couple photos for those that are interested:

Very nice, tempted by one of them myself.

How tall are you and any idea of weight? Not you, the bike. ๐Ÿ™‚

What tubing is the frame made from? Needs to be something nice for an Explosif! ๐Ÿ™‚

Looks brilliant. Kona know how to make a pretty hardtail, don't they?

Im 173cm and bike weighs 27.6lbs. Nice surprise was that it came with the type 2 x9.

Hurry though! I believe I got one of the last 17'' in the country.

Konas website says it "kona chromoly double butted". Can anyone elaborate on that?

Frame weighs 5.6 lbs with headset cups, seatclamp and dropouts (200g). So it's nothing too luxurious.

It'll be their proprietary in house tubing then. Still decent but not 853, hence the reasonable price (for a kona).

ps if you have any affection for the bars on your Yelli, you can have them back, I'll never use them, much too narrow for me.

I couldn't help myself. It's rare for me to gel with a bike so quickly. I'm happy with these bars (at 730mm). I can't tell the difference.

Stem is 70mm (19'' has a 90mm).

try wider, it works very well for me, 740 is about my minimum and 750 is better, I'm about to try some 780s tho I suspect I'll end up on 760ish

I need to give the bike some abuse first before I start changing bits.
The only thing being fitted (for now) is the hilo dropper.
