My 2007 (I think - second hand) TALAS 32 RL forks have started making a knocking noise on direction change, i.e. as they go from compression to rebound, not topping out. Has anyone had a similar problem that they found a solution to? They're the 100-120-140mm versions. I eliminated headset last night, with a complete strip and rebuild.

I have been fiddling with the IFP pressure, and have reduced it to effectively 0psi, could that be it (although it's been fine for the couple of rides before)? I'll be out in the man-cave this evening, I plan to pull the damper top cap and cycle the fork to see if the noise is left or right leg, and if it's left leg I'll try recharging the IFP chamber a bit to see if it goes away. If anyone has any suggestions of something to try though that would be helpful!

Thanks

Nathan

It's mostly a noise, but you can feel it when you put your hand on the lowers.

I've just popped the damper top cap and the noise disappears as soon as the damper is eliminated. So what in the damper cartridge could be knocking?

Well changing the oil had no effect, but it had manged to wind itself to near full rebound somehow, winding it back to a more sensible setting has ridded me of the clunk - yay!
