Ok I did this over a year ago. At the time no longterm affects/issues were found and the Physio described the muscle to the side of the scar (left/inner side of patella) as being ‘boggy and scarred’ (his wording- not sure if its official Physio-speak!).
Anyway on a couple of bigger ring rides over the past two weeks I noticed a pain in that exact part of the muscle(?) and a slightly loose feel.
I must admit since the accident I haven’t put much if any pressure really on my legs riding. I’ve automatically defaulted to the granny as much as possible and its only been in the past couple of weeks I’ve used the middle ring 100% of the time.
Could it be my muscles have ‘atrophied’ to a degree and this is part of rebuilding?
Or it’s the ‘scarring’?
Or something I should investigate further, ie MRI scan (I didn’t have one at the time).
To go back to the title- would wearing a soft brace help, as In help support that area? I fear there is something gradual happening down there as it feels slightly ‘loose’ sometimes (hard to explain).- slow Cartledge deterioration rather than torn?
There is no sharp pain, hard to bend at any point. Just a dull reference. I'd rather be pre-empting and being paranoid than 'ignore' something future.
Again a lot of question marks.
Cancer? WTF. Have you got anything constructive to post?
I have no idea what you're even asking.

Did what? Preventative care?
the Physio described the muscle to the side of the scar
What scar? From the care?
😕
I get really bad knee pain from an old soft tissue injury. I deal with by taking cod liver oil, if I dont forget to take them I have very little pain if any.
Thats good- I used to take Cod Liver oil after another old injury but stopped after a while.
+1 for cod liver oil.
Sainsbury do 30 'Basics' for 40p, with a 3-for-2 offer.
So that's 90 for 80p every 3 months.

Lot's of stretching (not forgetting the less used muscles/tendons/ligaments like the ITB and glutes as well as the usual hamstring, calf, quads, etc) and squat's seem to keep mine working, part of the reason I bought some running shoes was so I could go for a 20min jog to warm up, get home do a pyramid of squats (start with 10/20/30/20/10 with a minutes break between them and work up from there, add another row to the pyramid every other evening (10/20/30/40/30/etc) untill you can't do the last 10. That and walking down stairs really slowly, lowering each foot to the next step in a controlled way builds up the muscles and prorioception rather than just falling down the stairs with a bit of ballance like normal.
Basicly if I do excercise and stretching my knee's are good for anything, if I don't the right one swells upto the size of a rugby ball and the left won't bend past about 30deg!
Cheers guys. will do and will get some Codliver oil down 'me. 🙂
