Ok, ive probably fitted King headsets to a dozen frames in the past, and I use King and other quality tools to do the job..and until now have never had an issue.
But, im fitting a King nothreadset to a new Ti road frame, and the top race when pressed against the upper cup (with the fork installed) is not fitting dead flush.
The front edge of the upper race is much tighter against the bearing than the rear edge. This is only probably a fraction of a mm but you can really feel it when running a finger around it and the result is that you can detect a rough feel or slight binding when turning the handlebars.
Have I wrongly assumed that this brand new Ti frame's headtube would have been reamed dead flush in the factory?
If so, that's rather disappointing. And the first time ive experienced it on any frame.
....hello?
It would look likely that something is wrong with the headtube as opposed to the headset. I've seen frames before that should have had faces reamed but haven't had them done....
Strangely I had this on my Dad's Ti Litespeed and was caused by the Ritchey stem as it's bottom edge wasn't perfectly flat - tried everything else including facing but found a different stem solved it

anyone know where I can get my headtube faced in surrey/berks borders /sw london area?
