After surgery 7 months ago for a snapped Achilless my physio has now put this tape on my leg to help with the ankle swelling back training and biking but feel like a tool with this multi coloured tape on has anybody else used it and does it work

The little lady uses it on her dodgy knee. Swears by it (as does her physio).

Possible quackery, but if those that use it find a benefit, why not?

Taping (done properly) helps recovery, Kinesio tape has better stretch/adhesion properties than zinc oxide tape.
So yeah I'd say it works....

split my peroneal tendon in my ankle last May - i opted not for surgery (big wuss) and put up with the constant pain and 14 months of physio so far... but physio did use kinesio tape on me between feb-may and it did seem to me to be better than the regular tape to support my ankle

maybe try some matching socks to hide the tape? 😀

There doesn't seem to be a lot of evidence to prove it works but my physio taped my hamstring up and it worked a treat. Possible placebo but it got me better so I don't mind.

In theory it could work, but as far as I'm aware there has been no substantial studies to prove its effectiveness. However, a lot of anecdotal evidence supports its use and it is unlikely to cause further damage. I had it on my back for a while, seemed to help but hurt like hell getting it off (I'm a bit wooley)

I tried it to help support a dodgy ankle after using Zinc oxide for such things previously.

I was after it allowing some movement but restricting it to a point, it didn't do what i expected to and I found zinc oxide adhesion much better. I didn't like it and went back to Zinc Oxide.

As I understand it now! that's not really what it's about I think it's meant to somehow increase blood flow locally which helps recovery. Which makes sense, how it supposedly does this is beyond me though.
That's my understanding now though, again could be wrong I'm no expert.

I wouldn't bother again personally. but if it works for you then great.

Anybody want half a role of black Kinsio for £postage?
PM me if you do.
