My trainers broken so after a new one and wanting a direct drive one this time.
Looking at Kickr or a Neo, both are around the same price.
Anyone ridden both?
I like the no calibration and no belts to tension / wear out aspect of the Neo, but Kickr has been around for a long time and still highly regraded. Are Neos still suffering from the grinding noise issue or is that all sorted?
I do a lot if riding on Bigring VR which has a lot of passes with steeeeep sections so want a trainer that can go upto 20% incline rather than something like the direto which is only 14%
Put this in the Zwift thread. (not sure if the code will still work)
Bit of a PSA
Diretos are £530 at Athlete Shop, thats £100 cheaper than last week
and using WOMENS-DAY-18 code today takes another 10% off

Making it £490 delivered!!
Possibly the grinding issue was overstated... rather than freaking out, I just greased mine & rode it, and issue disappeared quickly. Probably just lack of lubrication at the factory. I think they’ve sorted it anyway.
Kickr Climbs are shipping now apparently, which at the moment gives their trainer a pretty interesting USP!
Not ridden both but yeah the no-faff aspect of the Neo is great, and mine’s been fine for many Zwift miles!
I bought a Kickr just before Christmas, amazing bit of kit and logged close to a 1000 miles.
Bought from the LBS, they all rode on kickrs and said none have had any problems, but had a few Neos brought back with faults.
Just ridden my reconditioned 2016 KICKR. If you don’t want the climb, the £400 saving makes it an easy choice. The difference just paid for a set of Assioma pedals.
Reconditioned units on the Wahoo web shop. Delivery was two days.
It’s not quiet, but it is solid! And you want the one with the handle as it is 22 kg.
Stonking deal on Direto PSA above, smashes the 15% I got off RRP from ProBikeKit just before Xmas!
I was looking at the Neo but went for the Direto, it's pretty much the same thing with most of the functionality that matters for half the price. Very happy with it (and I paid £660!).
Mark 1 Kickr (without handle). Firmware is upgraded to latest version. One year guarantee

Having benchmarked my Kickr against my Tacx Sartori with speed sensor, I think wheel-on trainers aren't so inaccurate. The Mark 1 Snap is currently £299.
Also benchmarked my Powercal, over 90 minutes, and it is not so bad either.
