Hi, A group mates from work are thinking of staying in Keswick on the 7th / 8th Sept. Can anybody recommend any places in Keswick that can cater for a group of upto 10 men ? Have looked at a few places including Causeway Foot Barn (booked, damn and blast!!) and Denton House (some dodgy reviews). Anybody any opinion on Denton House or any ideas as to other places to look at.

Cheers,

Carl

There's a place in Stair, just around the back of Catbells - never seen it personally but might be worth a call.

Not Keswick but close as an option if nothing in Keswick.

Have stayed in the Ambleside and found it good enough.

Stu,

Thanks for imput I've checked YHA, talk about expensive ! £22ish each per night and add on fees (temporary members fees ect.) because I'm the only YHA member going. Would probably be cheaper going to a B&B

Stayed in Denton House, rough & ready but it was £12 per night so did the trick at the time.

Also stayed at Maggs Howe, again not the Ritz, cheap & chearfull with some of the best Lakes biking from the door. Need nominated drivers if you fancy a night out tho. We headed into Windermere for a really nice Indian meal.

Newlands Activity Centre www.activity-centre.com near Stair can do group accomodation, has various sheds were bikes could be secured. Place even has its own bar or a pub with grub within walking distance.

Early September might be a slack time for them, they're usually busy with school trips etc but first weekend in Sept would just seem to be too early for the schools to have got their act sorted.

A few of us are up there that weekend, we've always stayed at Denton House..... Yes it's not the nicest place but always very welcomong and have secure bike storage, trouble is everywhere is virtually fully booked, we've managed to get into a static caravan (sleeps 6)

Ring Keswick Mountian Bikes, I'm sure they'll help you. They'll also know the best place if you have bikes too.

+1 for Denton House, nothing dodgy about it at all - just cheap and cheerful!

Oh, and a short amble to the pubs but thats probably not important anyway...
