[#10182357]

Looking to get from Gravesend to Bedgebury - plan is to then do a couple of laps of Bedgebury on the cross/drop bar bikes.

Quick check on Google maps shows a route more or direct south from Gravesend of about 34 miles - any off road sections - gravel, tracks, bridleways - we should try and take in? Happy to investigate on OS maps if anyone's got a few pointers for areas we should try and head too.

Plan obviously revolves around Bedgebury and riding it on the cross bikes - assume thats going to be OK, never been there before but guessing it's not the most technical of trail centres?

You'll be fine on probably 90% of the bedgebury red trail, there's a few 'features' like at 1:13 hereย

ย but otherwise there's not many roots, it's mainly smooth gravel.

You could go out via Cobham then up onto North downs towards Trosley and drop down onto Pilgrims way then down past Coldrum Longbarrow onto the Wealdway briefly and go to and through Mereworth woods,my local knowledge runs out after that and looking at OS map so do all the bridleways between there and Bedgebury. By the looks of it you'd be on road (without some good local knowledge) for 14miles after Mereworth until you hit a bridleway that goes toย  northern end of Bedgebury XC Loop.

If heading to Bedgebury, it's also worth considering a lap of the (12 mile) Bewl water round reservoir route, easy to get to from Bedgebury, you can pick it up by the bridge off Rosemary Lane.

The Blue route at Bedgebury is decent on a cross bike too. The main Red has a few drops, but most Rocky skill sections are avoidable.

Don't forget to have a look at Coldrum Longbarrow if you go that way!
