Not been here yet myself, but apparently there are some unofficial trails in Box Woods. No actual trail centres around there that I’m aware of. Closest are probably Ashton court / Leigh Woods in Bristol or Windhill in warminster. Both a long way to cycle to!

There's some short tracks in Conkwell, starts up at Blackberry Lane and goes down to Dundas Aquaduct, with quite a few little bits in between, you can also come out at Conkwell village, then up the road, cut through the woods to your right and head towards Sally in the Wood and from there head up to Brown's Folly, which has some riding around it. Realistically, you'd need to find someone for this one, or just have a good hunt around, around Bath and the surrounding area it's a lot of joining up to make routes

If you want easier to find, then probably jump on the train to Bristol Temple Meads and head up to Ashton.

As mentioned above, conkwell has a number of fairly steep and technical trails. All drop from the lane at the top, the more you look the more you'll see. Lots of rocks and quite slippery when wet. Great in the dry.

Browns folly is good, but a bit controversial to ride. So of course we don't ride there.....not that i have ever met anyone who had an issue.

Both areas can be linked up and the canal path at the bottom is a nice spin back into Bath.

Back of the uni (more tech, depending on route option)

Up over lansdown (not much tech, but big climbs, open skies kind of stuff, nearly all legal to ride too)

All fairly easy to find on strava

If you don’t mind exploring and/or longer rides with more road than trails then there are loops around Box (not worth going out there just for Box woods, it’s tiny) and also south of Bath around Wellow and Englishcombe.

(Not my site)

Big bunch of guys meet at the Crown in Bathford on Wednesdays around 7 or 730 in the evening to do the loop. Never been out with them myself but seem like a friendly group.

That's the route i was looking for, you can also have a play around Conkwell before heading up to Bathford, only negative is this time of year it's chewed up around Warleigh Woods.

You can add on another descent to that loop if you do shaggers into monkton combe

And another in 5-10 years time when pipehouse is back to its eroded self

Bathford from the Crown

Box also from the Crown

South of Bath

North of Bath (bit further)

There's a couple of groups go out from the Crown on a wednesday night Folly flyers is one, always seem friendly. Don't seem to mind randoms joining we occasionally lose people to the wrong group when riding there 🙂
