Two guys came up to me in a pub and said "hey, you're miketually!" Still no idea who they were, but assume they were from here.
I've met people on here before I was even on here, and not even through biking.
Have since met a few of the STW Bristol Chapter Massive on the regular rides.

No names, no pack drill. And I was camping nowhere near you lot when "it" happened
Unsurprisingly the STW (northern chapter) forum rides used to garner quite a few, I think 45 was the largest turnout (I wasn't on that one tho)
I think I did that to you at kielder100. I've also done that to a few local mtb bloggers out on the trails, I expect it can seem a bit creepy. Two guys came up to me in a pub and said "hey, you're miketually!"
'It' never happened. The police, the fire brigade, security, sexy in black. None of it ever really happened.
I must have dreamt about the one armed security hofficer..

I've met all of you lot, it's just you don't realise it.Are you the guy who dusts the spam bot servers?
Anyone pretending to be someone off of on of Singletrack is an imposter, a Walter Mitty.
45 for the largest turnout!! (Northern turnout)I think us Bristolians need to up our game as we've only managed 8 max.
though I prefer to think of it as quality over quantity.... 😯
bought her a second hand Prince Albert in a car park in Slough from a stranger off the internet.
Yes, but the bike you were meant to be buying alongside it was an Orange 5.
matt_outandabout - MemberScarily I have had three forumites walk or ride up to me and say 'are you matt_outandabout...?' on three different days.
Now:
"Hey, are you matt_outandabout of 'EU Referendum thread on STW' fame?"
😉
There are a couple of others from dates/random comments that I reckon I probably knew at Southampton uni a long long time ago.
How long long time ago?
Makes me feel old just thinking about that.
What's happened to deadly?
He's fine, just not on here.
Also, that wasn't me in Jesters. You never saw me.
I'm sure you've both ridden past me on the the Chase.
Just goes to prove what an utterly boring forgettable b'stard I am then Steve - RAF Benson riders day about 3 or 4 years ago 😉
Dickyboy.... I've not done a Benson day out yet mate !!
Must have been someone else I sold some slx cranks to and then met at Benson, I was on a motorbike day there and STW guy was on a green cotic, had in my mind it was you all this time 😳
Ah dickyboy yes that was me doh. I thought you meant a Benson MTB ride out mate.
Re Southampton uni
How long long time ago?
I was there from 95-98, had a nasty purple bike (on which I warrantied almost every single component before cracking the frame) followed by a much nicer cheaper blue GT that got rebuilt with all the parts from the previous bike that were quite nice. That gt's still in the family 20 years on.
I was there from 95-98,
Ah a youngster. 90-93 first year in Glen then salubrious St Mary's
Mr Pop is obviously having a proper clear out....
Im building the Segment up this weekend! Thanks again.
Two of the most spectacular and funny crashes I ever saw were on a STW ride near Pitlochry. Scotroutes disappeared completely into a ditch surrounded by Gorse. It seemed to defy all sorts of physics. A little while later Househusband came off at about 30mph cartwheeled and then did a perfect impression of a bouncing bomb. I've never been more sure we were going to have to call for a helicopter but he got up took some man up pills and kept going.

Indeed. Eldest_oab has agreed to buy pop's Orange Five too...

Good to finally meet you the other day Renton!
I know a few, though mostly I'd say my primary reason for knowing them is something other than STW. I went to university with Northwind, for example, and got back in touch with him after I had a letter published in WMB. I probably knew stevenmenmuir via Glentress Trailfairies before I realised he was on this forum too.
The main time I recall meeting "people from STW" was many years ago now when a bunch of then forum regulars including Jedi and mamadirt were on a trip to Glentress and I bumped into them there.
I think that I first met TJ and househusband on a ride I organised here. At one point on that ride househusband borrowed my Cotic Sould and liked it so much I was worried he was going to ride off with it! I think he ordered his own later that day...
