To the OP; well done for apprehending the scrote, and for being suitable restrained and acting in accordance to the Law. Hope a suitable reward will be coming your way soon. We all need neighbours like you.

Well said

Oh look here's another one. What a surprise. (S'Monday morning innit? I think some folk are feeling a little impotent, inadequate and inferior...)

far from it - just quoting factual past history - and what's my flacid penis issue got to do with anything?

Why, so you can misinterpret it?

just quoting factual past history

Or your blinkered interpretation of 'past history'?

Funny, cos I've bin reading TJ's posts for some years now, and have never actaully read anything which corresponds with what that other bloke said earlier.

So I can only assume this notion of how TJ thinks exists only in the heads of others, and is not actually based on reality.

I'd say that's pretty much a fact, actually. ๐Ÿ™‚

had a quick search but couldn't find the aforementioned thread - gist of it was someone who'd broken into someones flat and taken residence in there as they had nowhere to go. Apparently hadn't stolen anything - Elfin being a good natured chap said he'd happily invite the said stranger/trespasser into his home

i was referring to you, not TJ - everyone knows you can't argue with the stalwart

So actually nothing to do with this thread and burglars then?

well technically the two lads in this thread hadn't stolen anything either - so they may well have been looking for somewhere to bed down for the night. ergo the same

Oh right I remember now,. The poor sod who broke into an unoccupied flat to keep out of the cold, and din't do any damage or owt and left the place tidy? Then did time inside for the crime, which imo was unjust. Something quite a number of others agreed with, yet it's interesting that you've singled me out for special attention. I'm flattered.

Slightly different to scrotes on the rob though, in't it? Is that the best you can do?

And I've given someone a bed for the night when they would otherwise be on the streets. So what? I wasn't aware that was a crime, or even encouraging crime. ๐Ÿ˜•

If I seen someone out in the freezing cold with no other options, then I think I'd have to give them shelter.

I accept other people are more selfish though.

You should have tied him up on a chair and then put him in a gimp suit mask whilst you waited for the police - pulp fiction style.

That would have made him sweat

Well, if it was a rubber one then most likely, yes. ๐Ÿ˜

you don't know and can't prove that.

And my jibe at you was a little bit of jest, not an insult. I find it admirable, if a little crazy that you would let a stranger that had broken into a flat into your home, but that's just me. Selfish? definitely not

Well, at the risk of pulling this thread dangerously off the topic of whether TJ and Elfin are police hatin', criminal lovin' hippies... well done Grimy. I hope our neighbours would be as brave as you.

you don't know and can't prove that

And neither can you. The OP suspected a crime was taking place and acted according to the Law. Appears to have used Reasonable Force in restraining the suspect.

I'd hazard a guess that two young lads probbly weren't 'seeking shelter', it's not that cold out yet. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I find it admirable, if a little crazy that you would let a stranger that had broken into a flat into your home,

I've let people whattuv done worse than that, into my home. I accept I'm taking a risk no matter who I let into my home, as no-one knows quite what someone else is capable of.

But then, I'm not a paranoid knee-jerking Daily Fail reader. Maybe this helps. ๐Ÿ˜€

If i remember righty or maybe not, it was your thread?

I don't know wether to be flattered or worried about the level of attention you afford me....

Morning chaps, just woke up to find all your kind words. I don't know exactly what to say, other than Thank you for convincing me I did the right thing. I'll hold that thought when the police pop over at lunch time for a proper statement.

Sobalias your right, knowing the place was empty, it would have been much easier to let them go in and then call the police, but at the time I didn't think of that till I'd shouted at them. Dough!

If I find out anything from the police about his fate, ill keep you informed.

Loving the judge dread picture lol. You've cheered me right up.

Just to add, I was very well behaved holding him, I didn't want to give him too much of a reason to come back looking for me, and I'm not a violent man.

How do you break in without causing damage then elfboy?

Or do you assume everyone lives in sheltered housing who'll repair the damage for free?

don't worry - they never seem to figure this out in the police crime dramas on tv either!
