I've had a pair of 29er wheels sat in my shed. So shortly a nice courier will be bringing me a new 29er short travel fs frame to fit them.

My wheels are qr but I have a 20mm hub which could be swapped out with out any trouble.

Any recomemdations for some 120mm, 29er forks. Also is the 20mm hub going to be 220% betterer than 9mm qr?

As this is STW, i'll get all expected answers in in one go:
Rigid
Jones Truss
Lauf
Revelations
Totems in 29er guise.

There you go...

(in seriousness, have a look at the german sites for Revelations - I got some 130mm ones about 6mth ago for £230...)

With regards to the Axel, is there much difference between 9mm & 20/15mm in terms of feel / performance?

I've never noticed the lack of rigidity with 9mm in the past.

Yeah the axle will add significant stiffness. Especially useful on 29in.

If you're not the kind of rider to mind being on qr now then I'd suggest a Reba or revelation would be perfectly adequate.

I have a top end revelation barely broken in that I'll be selling, if you're interested in secondhand.

no difference between 20mm and 15mm. However 20mm is a little old school now.

9mm vs bolt through IS significant - particularly on 29ers (as has been said).

Go for bolt through at all costs!

2013 Revelation RCT3 140mm with spacers to make it 120mm.
20mm axle
Tapered steerer
180mm-ish steerer IIRC

Only 180 miles use so mint condition.

Cheapest equivalent I can see online is £330 new, so how about £220?

Let me know if your mech hanger arrives bent like mine did today 🙁 Shock is also upside down but that's an easy fix 🙂

the axle thing is more dependent on the fork make / model?

I've gone from Manitou tower pro q/r fork with the DT Swiss RWS 9mm through-axle and Specialized Stout hub (OS end caps)

to Rockshox Recon QR15 fork with DT Swiss 350 hub (QR15)

the Manitou fork actually felt stiffer under heavy braking, the Recon has more "twang" in the legs?

assuming this is because the Manitou has a more substantial crown and lowers with the reverse arch (the fork is a little heavier), from reading old information Specialized always claimed their OS hub and RWS 9mm axle was practically as stiff as a dedicated "through axle".
