I noticed that when I put my bike with the Juicy's up on the rear wheel so that it is near vertical, the Juicy lever pulls to the bar and feels spongy. Yet when horizontal or near horizontal (most riding) they feel fine.. is this normal for the Juicy?

It's pretty normal, but definitely not right. You have air in the reservoir, and it migrates into the pressurized part of the system when you do that, get it bled properly, and it should sort it.
