[Closed] Joplin and charge spoon issue

[#2296994]

Saddle started randomly lowering today on bumpy ground(on a hard tail)
It appears on first inspection that the base of the seat is fouling the remote pin when the saddle flexes. Can see a dint in the saddle plastic.

Anyone else experienced this or a similar issue? Any ideas to remedy it?

Your saddle must be ****ed. I have the (identical) Gusset R saddle on my Joplin and there is around 4mm of clearance (just checked for you). Might be less if I slide the saddle all the way back on the rails though.

Put on weight recently?

Yup had exactly the same problem, Joplin R and Spoon. Got the dremel out and grinded away a bit of the saddle to create more clearance, worked fine for a good year until the saddle broke on a crash. Have a gobi on now with no clearance issues.

Same as Buzz, I just ground a bit of the underside of the saddle away. All works fine now and I don't think the saddle is any weaker, the plastic is very thick there.

I may try to file the top of the bolt also - the clearance is about .5mm

Are these Joplin 3's or 4's? And cable remotes or levers?

same problem here with a joplin 3 with remote and WTB Silverado saddle, it was so close to the remote pin on installation I never even rode it- just pushing down with my hand made the saddle shell flex (where all the comfort comes from on this thin saddle) enough to hit the pin.

Now have a different WTB (Rocket V?) saddle with much lower rails on the joplin'ed bike, and the silverado on the other bike.

Same issue here on SLR and Spoon but thankfully the actual seat post angle on my Maverick frame means I can run the post reversed which cures the issue completely.

Let's face it, when you look at that bike, who notices the seatpost?
