He makes this look far too easy ๐ฏ

Fantastic ๐
yes far too easy considering he was doing it on a neon pink filing cabinet!
A pretty good argument for banning bikes on "foot" paths.
that is a cracking vid. definition of 'technical'
hats off.
Must be getting in sneaky training for the Mega Avalanche, didn't he come tenth, or something, good form.
druidh, Why?
A pretty good argument for banning bikes on "foot" paths.
Why?
Do you think he blasted down there without checking his line, making sure the path was clear, waiting for people to pass?
Do you know what time of day it was filmed? What if it was early am or late pm?
Some people just look for the negative in everything ๐
Looking at the "scar" of a footpath in one of the long distance shots, caused by walkers bypassing a steep setion of path, suggests to me a pretty good argument for keeping "people" off the footpaths.
Cool.
What was the sort of depth of field effect going on with the filming?
Sorry, dunno what the technical term is, but I'm curious as to how it was achieved.
Wow. I've walked half way up Ben A'an (before the wife gave up and made me take her back down) and have always wanted to take my bike back and ride down it. Maybe I won't, having seen that it's much steeper and more technical than I'd have envisaged near the top.
Crackin film!
I sort of agree with Druidh - for sure in places he sticks to the built path even when there is a wear mark from people cutting zig zags - but he also rides alongside the built path in places and skids down sections.
Its a debate we have had a few times before and there is no definitive answer - not many folk will try to ride this but skidding down steep built paths and riding off the side of the armoured bits is not best practice.
How much damage does he do compared to the number of walkers tho?
Great video, think I'd possibly chicken out of a fair bit of that.
IanMunro - shallow depth of field as a result of using a camera with a big sensor and lenses with a wide aperture.
Unsurprisingly on here he's getting stick for riding his mountain bike on a mountain. Why can't everyone just stick to the roads?
I'm marginally with druidh and TJ on this one. I defend to the hilt the right of MTB'ers to ride any path providing they ride responsibly and cause no more erosion than the average walker would do.
In most of the film there's no problem. Unfortunately, showing close ups of skidding through corners, digging stones and dirt off the trail, is just providing evidence to help the anti's show that bikes destroy paths and should be banned in sensitive places.
Apart from that, cracking vid though
Its not often something actually looks steep on film. Hats off.
A bit arm pumpy too!
Its a really nicely shot vid and skillful riding fo sure
That path is beyond the realms of possibility for most, it is even steeper than it looks in the vid...i would wager most would be carrying or OTB on most sections, to the hill police, i really can not see a stampede of middle aged tubby lemmings throwing themselves down this particular hill, that would be one pile of broken ego chariots for sure.
quite agree with that Fergal.
Awesome video. Riding at the very highest level and filming to match. More of this sort of thing please, it's what makes me want to ride my mountain bike every single day ๐
that's brilliant!
nice one Joe ๐
Job done, I want to ride my bike.
Lovin the Mullet ๐ฎ
to the hill police, i really can not see a stampede of middle aged tubby lemmings throwing themselves down this particular hill
Completely agree that very few will be up for that route. I was making a general point about riding on natural trails, bearing in mind the debates on here recently.
Does not detract from the quality of the video though. Haven't seen anything that gets near bringing out the steepness of a trail, or the technical challenge of riding it
Awesome 8)
My kids and wife were up there the other day - amazingly steep hill to ride down, and the filming really gets it across....
*heads for bike shed*
Good work Druidh.
What about noise pollution? The sound of an orange five clattering down that path would put the fear of death into the local wildlife.
Good effort! Tried it a few years ago but didn't even bother going to the top as it was obviously far too gnarrr for us ๐

That is fantastic... Always nice watching Joe ride, doesn't seem to matter whether it's race day or just mucking about.
Nice ! I normally find biking films v tedious but that was ace.
And now will you all believe me that mullets are cool ?? Entire teams of Australian rugby league players can't be wrong.
