Hi,

Anyone else riding the Jen ride in the lakes this weekend?

There were still some tickets if you fancy 100 miles in the lakes this weekend.

I'll be riding it on my geometron again, hopefully without punctures this year. IMG-20190707-WA0008.jpgIMG-20190707-WA0030.jpg IMG_20240525_173351028.jpgIMG_20240525_202405123_HDR.jpgIMG_20240525_200238650_HDR.jpgIMG-20190707-WA0008.jpgIMG-20190707-WA0030.jpgย

Yep, going to do the gravel route... On my gravel bike.ย

Done loads of good length local rides but this will be my first 'serious' gravel ride and first bike packing gravel ride.

Weather looking pretty decent, 🤞

I recognise the riders in your photos - may have been the year I met you on it years ago.

Not me this year - had already organised to Ride to the Sun, before dates were advertised.

Had to pull out, haven't recovered from a hand injury. Would have been doing the gravel route, or something similar, the MTB route was a bit too pushy for me this year.ย

Hope everyone has fun in the sun, it's a great eventย

The photos are from 2017 when I did it with a group and last year when I mostly rode it solo.ย

Enjoy the ride to the sun, my brother in law did it and loved it.

The MTB and gravel route crossed over last year. Some bits were tricky on the full suspension and that's where my overconfidence/ poor line choice gave me a couple of punctures. The MTB route does look quite pushy. I was out practicing in the peaks this weekend.

I'll be there. Was planning the MTB route, but given the route and weather will more than likely switch to the gravel option. Will still be on the MTBย

I think the MTB route was originally going up Sticks Pass to gain the Helvellyn ridge, but this has now changed to up Keppel which is a bit better. Still would have been too much for my poor old shoulders though.
