Monday Night Pub Ride does Sunday Morning in Ramsbottom!

9am start from the Hare and Hounds pub at Holcombe Brook - BL0 9RY. Please dont park in the pub car park - there is a large public car park available on the opposite side of the road (towards Bolton).

We will be collecting for Jenn's charities so please give bring some cash with you and give generously!

The plan is to pootle around the moor and get back to The Rake ( for the start of the 2015 Hill Climb event which starts at 12 noon.

[img] [/img]

A local artist, Mr Adam Rowlinson has been busy designing posters of the event and A1 prints of this, along with some of his other artwork will be auctioned off in the pub after the event. Again all proceeds will be going to Jenn's charities. thanks to Binners for his kind generosity!

Register your interest in joining us on the thread below and let me know if you have anything that you could donate to the auction.

Cheers

Craig

Can I just add that when Craig says the Charity auction will be in the pub after the race, He means the Rose and Crown on Carr Street. This is an ideal venue to watch the Race, while nursing a pint, as its the point where the pain starts to kick in before the false flat of Tanners Street, and you can see it etched on their faces.

Or watch it on the Rake and head down to the Crown for the auction afterwards. I'm guessing we'll be looking at 2 - 2.30

And before any smart arse criticises my artwork - this isn't the version that went to print. The print version has been rectified

See if you can spot the deliberate mistake. And four once itz not mi spellen

Sign slopes the wrong way?

I shall do my damndest to actually turn up to this, as the never-ending saga of my house move should be done by then - although I'm off to a mate's 40th the night before so if I'm feeling fragile I might only turn up for the pub and roadie-heckling (and charidee) bit of the day...

Correct! The sign indicates a descent.

Chipps is also right in that it feels like 125% by the time you get half way up the bloody thing!

Should slope the other way. 😐
And that's not you on the bike, either.

Bumcakes! Beaten too it.
Working weekend, hope it goes well.

Great design BTW & good work chaps.

Correct! The sign indicates a descent.

Given the typical bike handling skills of the average roadie a 25% 1km descent time trial would be quite entertaining.

I'll almost certainly be there, unless the Mrs has other plans. If she has she can cancel them 🙂

A ride in the morning? Count me out! Actually I'll be in Wales...

Anyway... however, Singletrack magazine would be delighted to offer the following product for auction:
The 'Thanks to...' bit of the next issue of the magazine's 'Who does what' page will feature:

'And special thanks to the legendary - YOUR NAME HERE'

Worth a bid?

Not sure it is Chipps. How much would it cost to change my name to 'YOUR NAME HERE' by deed pole?

i may have to come to work in the afternoon, but i'm sure that a ride beforehand would be ideal (and watching the rake race too, obviously!).

binners, i'll probably park near(ish) yours and ride over to the h&h with you if that's okay?

'And special thanks to the legendary - YOUR NAME HERE'

Good idea that. In fact you could go the whole hog and auction off a full page mugshot on the front cover?

A tentative 'in' from me due to that Sunday being the start of a work thing.

If I can't make it though I might have to be on the line to make telephone bids 😀

Cheers.

I'm "pusher off" (and part organiser) so if you see me holding a weirdo up at the start line give me a shout !! 😆

P.S- great artwork Binners, did not connect you and your pseudonym.

i might just roadie up to the pub for lunchtime and meet the fiance and kids there to heckle the hill climbers.

Nicking off with the car on a Sunday morning is taking the piss 😛

I'm in.

I've rode completely solo since Pooks last Pootle so apologies in advance if I get scared with other people around me 😉

Actually, I'd better give the MTB a clean up and once over, I've not touched it since I bought my Hybrid which I use at work......

I suspect this may be a bit far for a day trip but the idea appeals. I have a barely working crack 'n' fail that may hold air in the fork.
The lack of cake in the sales pitch is concerning. The Potter at Hope/Edale mentions cake, beer is a no-no for a day trip from the Mystic East. Will there be pie?

I should imagine there will be pie. This is the north west of England after all. The R&C will be doing pub grub. I'll have a word with Julie and see what she's putting on.

Craig, just looking on Streetview, where's that car park you want us to use ? Is it the one behind the coffee shop ?

Cheers

Cake? Beer, crisps, and sometimes chips is order of the day in these parts. Probably why we struggle to break the 10mph average speed barrier 🙂

Plenty of reasons for not coming along but that shouldn't prevent you from making a donation to either of Jenn's charities. I have set up a Just Giving page for donations for a few of reasons...

I don't really want to be handling too much cash on the day of the ride; I want full transparency on donations; this way we can add Gift Aid money to boost the donations and now the money gets to help the charities immediately.

Please make any donations through here:

I really should check the dates of these events and what todays date is, its very quiet in Ramsbottom around 8-45, anyhow as much as I would like to support MNPR on the 11th I am doing another charity bike ride pre booked. I have left a donation on WW's just giving page and if Binners has any prints left over (doubtful I know) I would gladly take one off his hands for another donation.

Will hopefully be able to make the ride, but won't be able to stay and watch, as being a relatively new dad finding time is hard, so unfit on a new bike tail gunner lol. If I don't make it then I'll donate on the page.
Jim

Cheers for the donations! £40 donated to Cancer Research (3 donations) and £30 to MacMillan (2 donations).

So far in 2015 89 different people have enjoyed MNPR. Come on we can do better than this!

Righty ho chaps. This is up for grabs tomorrow - the ultimate man-cave accessory....

[img] [/img]

Wouldn't that be good to look at when you're drinking beer or fettling your bike, eh? Its A1 (mahoosive), looks great, even if I do say so myself, and its going to the highest bidder tomorrow. All proceeds to Jenns charities

You'll struggle to park near ours mate. Obviously they close the roads and clear them. The streets you can park on will be rammed. You may be ok at that time though. Try and get to ours for 8.45 mate, and we'll ride up the Rake

Craig - or anyone - could you marshall the troops up to meet us at the shoulder. Usual laziness on my part. I can't be arsed riding all the way down the hill, to turn around and ride straight back up it again. Got a good idea route-wise

My new bike better turn up this morning!!!! Its due to land soon 😀

No worries Binners - see you at the SoM just after 9!

We need some sort of #Jennride banner to have a photo with... anyone any creative ability, time and inclination?

Thanks for the donations btw, they are all adding up!

This is Craig we're talking about! Of course he bloody has!

I'm gutted but I'm not going to make this chaps. It's been a hell of a long week and the lovely Mrs B deserves a medal. She's not going to get one so I'm going to give her the morning off from the kids instead.

Oh and - donated.
