All places have been snapped up 240 riders 🙂 Charities benefitting this year are St Gemmas Hospice and The Ride For Charlie Foundation.

A adventure bike night in Wheelbase is a sell out as well.

Unable to make it this weekend? why not ride the route with some pals and donate what you want after the ride, it is a belter, there is no hike a bike maybe a bit of pushing but the views are worth it.

Yeh I am in. Looking forward to it. First bike packing event. Done a decent amount of training so hoping it won’t be too bad! About 4kg in seatpack and 4kg on the back including fluids plus 2 more bottles on the bike plus a feed bag.

Oh and the cat isn’t coming!

I'm in!

3rd year for me 🙂

This year I've got a 50 tooth cassette instead of a 42, plus I've gone for a bivi bag instead of a tent.

Hopefully my kit won't be rattling around so much this year.

Its one of the highlights of my riding year 🙂

@robbo1234biking - there's plenty of food stops, it's the Lakes not northern Greenland! Plus as Rich says, it's not a race, stop at a view, chill out, and take food on board then.

I was about to criticise comment on the amount of kit but then thought back to my first bikepacking event, the first YD300, when I probably took nearly 10Kg of kit and food and thought I was going light.

I've got a route based on the 100 that visits one or two places I've not been to before so here's hoping the weather holds.

Was ace last year, hoping for similar levels of fun. Who doesn't love a ferry ride?

Thanks postierich (any anyone else) for sorting it.

Nice one Rich - thought it would be a free for all. And paid for as well, that's unexpected, we should all stick the extra 2 quid in the MR Team tin.

I seem to remember bikes jump to the front of the car queue at the ferry. That should be rather funny when 240 bikes / 2 ferry loads glide past the waiting cars 🙂

Top work Rich.

Martin the tickets have been bought with Jennride money  but if you buy the books of 20 it only costs 50p to cross instead of £2 I hope everyone puts a quid in to cover costs 🙂

I will go through the kit again on Thursday but not sure how much more I can get away with dumping.

No hip flask I am afraid. I don’t think I actually have one!

Well just what have you got? Looks like you've a woolie hat and a buff. Also what looks like a pair of winter gloves(?). Two water bottles AND fluid in your rucksack? This is the Lakes, plenty of drinkable water around, if you don't trust it then get a water filter which are anywhere from 80g to 200g.

Try not to pack things in their stuff sacks - they actually take up more room as they are just odd shapes to try and fit together. Just ram clothing and soft items into the main bag, they'll also naturally wrap around the "hard" items like mug and stove.

Your right. Looking at the weather the winter gloves and woolly hat can go. I have a set of tights and ls base layer to sleep in and an insulated jacket. Spare socks are worth it I think.

Things I might not need. Spare padded shorts and clean t short for day two. Could be useful but also overkill.

Sleeping bag is best in the stuff sack as it has to go in the rucksack. I have got two 600ml bottles on the bike and two 750ml bottle in the backpack.

Leave the cat at home, that will save weight and hassle.
Enjoy. I’m up there this weekend, but not for this. Looks great. Weather forecast is good.

I have the availability of a light single tent, tarp, bivi bag, sleeping bag and mat, given the forecast would it make sense just to take and use the bivi and sleeping bag. I plan to overnight somewhere on the down hill side of walna scar. A bit of guidance from the more experienced please.

How heavy duty is the bivy bag? Some like the Alpkit Hunka are standalone (lie-alone?) whereas the ultra-lightweight ones aren't rainproof so meant to be used (or are better used) with a tarp. The lightweight ones will keep condensation and a light drizzle at bay.

I'm taking a lightweight tarp and lightweight bivy bag but will see on the night whether I use the tarp or not.

The bivi bag is an Alpkit Hunka and the mat is Alpkit Aero 180 and the tarp is Alpkit 3.5, the tent is an OEX Phoxx 1 which weighs in at 1.5Kg and takes 5 mins to erect, it has its own ground sheet so no bivi bag to take. I am leaning to just the tarp and bivi (and sleeping bag) given the forecast. Thanks for the input.

Err, that's pretty much my normal bikepacking kit. It's not the OP's kit.

@martinhutch - I don't have a dropper post so can mount stuff more evenly - it's roughly 1/3 on the bars, 1/3 in the frame and 1/3 on the saddle by weight.

The cat is ligging out on the bedroom floor having eaten half a rabbit!

How much water are you planning on carrying? I remember last year being desperate Sunday morning and finding a pub tap somewhere near Grizedale. Hoping to get away with carrying a single 750ml bottle

That bottle is 500ml, that and a few pub/cafe stops should be fine.
