Hi Romster
(And I know there is also a formal proper JEJames log in here too)

If you are great then how do you explain the large number of posts on here and other forums that would disagree?

Just asking

🙂

Hi,

I would be wary of their low stock. I ordered a chainring which was shown in stock but turned out it wasn't. It then took them 3 weeks to source if from the supplier and eventually deliver it. Their communication was poor and kept having to prompt them to get an update.

I am sure they are fine if they have it in stock but they could do with being a bit more up front when they don't and they need to sort out their site re what is or isn't in stock.

Regards

The other "formal" one, is also me. Tails what are you after? If you wait until am tomorrow i'll give you a call if you send me you're number to stforum@jejamescycles.com. Or alternatively place the order and send me your order number to the same email if you're desperate to get the thing ya buying?

I think they've improved massively! Instead of waiting several weeks to find out the item wasn't in stock, they phone you the next day to tell you it isn't available.

Pity about the website not being kept up-to-date, but the customer service is definitely much better!

Sent me the wrong front mech recently but sorted it out no quibble. Unfortunately they use a non-Parcel Force courier and (for new customers) won't deliver to anywhere else than the credit card address which was no good for me so had to drive an 18 mile round trip to the courier depot (...to pick up the wrong mech 🙄 )

About right, I reckon. I've had great service from them, I've had rubbish service from them.
I'd use em again though cos they're cheap.

Tried to order stuff twice. Stock shown on the website in both cases, so completed the order and then get email saying out of stock. arg.
I shan't be bothering them a third time.

Stock is an issue at times, but it is something all the big Mail Order guys are up against unfortunately. I've had this issue with Tails's query. (Doh). We're showing x 1 in stock at the WH and it just cannot be found. On a positive note we're doing our upmost to correct things by:

a) carrying more stock in the new warehouse.
b) increasing the number of stock checks in the warehouse and stores.
c) ensuring all staff are fully trained in correct procedures.

If something is unforunately on the system due to error then we do our upmost to put things right for the customer, this is where we have taken a big step forward in our customer service. It's a bit of a double edged sword, and no doubt the critics will be out (who i'll be happy to address issues for), but it's evident things have improved on that side of the fence.

Appreciate the response Andy, but my two orders were about a year apart, so not much has changed in my experience. It's not so much a question of actually carrying the stock but more to do with having an e-commerce system that works properly. This is not an issue I have ever had with CR or Wiggle.
Hope it works out...

The reason I've not bought things from them is the delivery address issue. Even parcelforce will trust me enough to drop stuff with my home address on it at my work. Until they accept a delivery where I want it, I ain't using them.

You only need to have one order successfully delivered to the registered address of the card for this to change so you can have it delivered to where ever you want, but fair point if you're never around to collect the initial order.

Not a problem for many other shops though? You may be losing a lot of business that way. Do you get a lot of non-completed checkouts?

Thanks for taking it all so well btw

To be fair, excluding the big BIG boys who can take a hit of losing a £3k bike every other week, a few retailers are the same as us. . . .

I could understand it for big items - but for tools and small stuff?

People I have bought stuff from with first delivery to work (to an address which I can be tracked to on Google very very easily)

Pedal on (£1400 first delivery), Noahs Ark (first delivery £2400), Bikedock, Superstar, Rutland, Bonthrone (hiss boo), UKbikestore etc etc... Not all big guys

And of course wiggle/crc/Merlin

In the end it is about how much you want the business... But paypal is a start 😀

Stoatsbrother - we hear you brother and we're addressing things, like you said, paypal is a start!

I'll let you know more when it happens, we've got a few things to iron out first.

Over n' out.

So I feel an update is due, Andy the chap I dealt with is very hardworking and perhaps sounded slightly over stretched.

There was a slight confusion over what I wanted but it is understandable with the amount of options Hope make.

When the item arrived with them delivery was prompt and I was not charged postage which is nice, unfortunately I was not in to receive the item so I had to rearrange for today. This is not really a problem but if I had missed both deliveries quite easy for a working household then I would have had to travel 20miles to pick up from a depot as opposed to the mile walk into town if Royal Mail had been used. So perhaps J E James could take their business to RM.

Overall I would use them again if the price is right. Thumbs Up.

Tah for the feedback, pretty fair account of the whole encounter. It seems the biggest issue that need's addressing for you lot, as you've also stated Tails, and i've heard it elsewhere, is the shipping to an alternate address issue. Hmmmm. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who hasn't ordered solely because they can't change the address. Not working at the mo, just interested in opinions.
