Seen the video on Mountain Bike rides site and desription of route, but difficult to tell angle / step sizes etc; having hardly ridden Peak stuff (apart from a Polaris years ago) how does the descent compare to say Gap Road (Brecon) or red routes at trail centres eg Nant y Arian / Coed Y Brenin / Wolftrax Laggan / Glentress

The harder section at the top I would say would rate as a decent black. It requires momentum, nerve and a sprinkling of luck on a 100mm hardtail (I had all three this morning).
On a full suss. just momemtum and nerve. Definitely a 'go faster to make it easier' section. The rest of it? Red to blue. A great decent. A bugger of a climb that probably needs nearly as much pushing as riding.

Ta for that, the video seems to show a stone pitched steps section as well as big stone cross gullys, is this teh black section (stone pitched steps)?

Yes, up near the top is proper stone pitching, lower down it's just a load of loose rubble - certainly the bottom third after the sharp L/H bend you only need to hang on rather than pick a line.

It's actually pretty dull as a descent unless you're motoring and the chance to go that fast is very rare cos there are always walkers on it.
