Before the weather gets too cold I'm looking for a jacket that I can use when the weather really gets cold and crappy..something that keeps the warmth in, rain out and still gives you plenty of room to move about. Now I did have an Endura (which the wife bought as a prezzie) for quite a few years which ticked all the boxes, but for the life of me I can't remember the model...although to be fair it lasted for that many years that the model names has probably changed. I'm leaning towards Endura as I've had a few bits of their kit in the past and I've always been very impressed. I'm thinking that the model that I'm after is the Venturi II http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=50001.
Any other recommendations??
Thanks GL.
Stealth
+1 for the stealth.
It's really waterproof and REALLY warm. A bi too warm for me.
Endura MT500?
Keeps me more than warm enough...can be too much some times on those days where it's just wet rather than cold and wet.
+1 for the stealth
2 winters now down to minus 2 commuting, and reproofs well with nikwax when necessary.
Thanks for the advice chaps!
Seems like the stealth is the one to go with...I seem to remember my old one was the Venturi, if the Stealth is better than that then I'll be a happy chappy.
Quick question, I can't tell from photos, is the cut nice and low at the base of the back so it covers your butt a bit when you're hunched over and what's the score with the sleeves/cuffs. Is it an elasticated zip keeping it nice and snug around the cuffs?
Thanks again GL
Used both, the Stealth is considerably warmer.
Yeah Stealth is OK but very warm if you're putting any effort in. The On One winter jacket they did last year was miles better (and half the price) but they stopped selling it and said they had no plans to get more in when I last checked (I'd have bought a couple as spares if I'd have known). Fingers-crossed it resurfaces though...
You could visit a 'bike shop' and perhaps try it on and buy from there? It might better answer your questions.

If you wish to pay Swiss prices, be my Guest. That's if you can find an Endura stockist here.
I'm also looking to pay in Sterling, so bar jumping on a plane, I'll settle for mail delivery...thanks!
Thanks to those who had something useful to add, appreciate it!
Cheers,
Gl.
Layers. Base layer, cheap fleece, cheap pertex shell, you'll be ready for anything. If you're still cold add more layers, although just those three things should see you through any UK weather.
And those three things can do anything from fairly warm to really cold - you just leave bits of it out. Which can even be done mid-ride! Several times if necessary!
The reasons I'm thinking of sticking with Endura and I'm hoping their kit is still up to the quality it was a few years ago, I can remember many a time when I'd be out in that real drizzle rain, could have been for a good few hours and I'd still be nice and cozy under my jacket. Also, due to family commitments a lot of my riding is early morning. I've noticed even now in August, even though the day time is lovely and warm, mornings are a bit parky, I'm living in a valley in Switzerland now, takes until later in the morning for things to warm up. I'm looking for something I can time after time, chuck over my winter cycling top and go out for a quick hour blast without having to worry about putting on, or taking off layers.
thanks anyways. Gl
How about a Buffalo?
Best piece of kit I've ever bought.
