OK, perhaps not raining, and it was only one rabbit, but......

Riding along this afternoon, there was a thud a couple of feet to my right in front of me. Just missed me.

It was a rabbit. A rabbit from the skies! Looked up to see a red kite flying along in front of me, so I assume that was the bomber.

A very odd experience. Just by Watership Down as well!

The mammal yes?

As Matt's post just makes it more confusing.

Even birds of prey hate us.

I had a squirrel land in my lap once. I think it fell out of a tree rather than any involvement by an avian courier. I don't know who panicked more, it or me...

It was indeed the mammalian version.

Stoner, butcher near us recently had rabbit on sale with the label, "REALLY tame rabbits. "

Riding along this afternoon, there was a Fudd a couple of feet to my right in front of me. Just missed me.

FTFY.

Notoriously intolerant of wabbits, yer actual Fudd.
