Are on-ones really that common, or just on here? I know they are great value for money but it does seem as is every man and his dog (on a lead or well trained to come to heel rather than menacing anyone) has one.

Try 10 weight oil in them. That should sort it.

It could just be that I've got too much presure in the positive chamber but that could be worth a try.
