today's ride

Had an awesome ride today in the fod. Have noticed I've progressed so much from 6 months ago, super excited for summer.

Shame about the huge groups of 10+ people I encountered though, seems to be a lot of Brummies local to the fod, hmmm.

mmm we've had those on the local trails above Ross-on-Wye as well. Big groups as well. Words have been exchanged but I don't expect it'll make any difference.

Yat today was fantastic. For those that know it, riding the Bunker in March means it really dry.

Still getting lots of new bike love 😉

Wild Garlic is out and smells amazing

That's what about 10 PSI looks like in my mates tyre!

My bike looks tiny compared to an XL Pole Stamina!

60km, 1250m of climbing. Felt pretty fit. Maybe all that Zwifting has paid off.

When can we go again?

Can't be Brummies, because I passed nearly the whole population of them today in Birmingham & North Worcestershire ☹️

A second ride out this weekend was blessed with blue skies and warm sunshine. A comment made earlier in the thread about what nice places everybody lived/ride in had me a little jealous, then I decided to head to the hills and look at things a different way. From my door I can be at any 1 of 3 heritage steam railways, this means plenty old lines and countryside to explore, joining them up with some bridle way action (we don’t have that many round here that aren’t railway historically) visited some old tracks I haven’t been down for a couple of years and felt happy, as was pointed out by Matt out and about miles means smiles. Saw some steam trains on the move and a cracking old Ford cortina and an original set of bolt thu axles that might have the weight weenies concerned.

Apologies for the insta link it’s just the path of least resistance went posting pics!

Here’s to next weekend

First single layer ride of the year in the Dales. Well, about an hour of it before the cloud rolled over and it got colder.

Have they fixed the Instagram auto-embed feature yet?

(Not very hopeful)

Got just shy of 70k round the local bridleways, tracks, paths and a bit of the black stuff.

Me and LittleMissHall went for a cycle round Walton Nature Reserve on Saturday, her first time riding there and she did well, 2.5 mile figure of 8 loop. Really proud of her.

All of 2 miles - but first time on a mtb since late October, before getting COVID, and it was a new bike - so it was definitely high on smiles, if not miles.

Some great photos this weekend - as usual Scotroutes making me slightly jealous.

More exploring in the local (lockdown) hills - the Devils Putting Stone and some frogs-to-be...

Well done for getting back out there @ahsat. Bare legs, that's brave 🙂 I think we're still a few weeks away from exposing any flesh up here. At least I am (much to the relief of the locals).

This local has been riding in shorts and/or 3/4s.

I was going to say that there are some nutters up here too 🙂 My wife runs with some loons who bash through knee deep snow in their shorts. Makes me cold just thinking about it, but I'm a soft southerner.

I have an ~10C threshold for bare legs. I think the weather station was saying 9.4C when I got changed so it was worth the risk 🙂

Had only planed a little loop around town but the weather forecast was good so snuck off at 4.50 and was pedalling out of Corfe with a mate by 5.15pm.

And because it’s against the law to ride past Franks Tank and not take a picture.

Got dropped off in the peak for a decent loop and back over the hill to Sheff. Had more pics but imgur has been failing for 2 days.
