seeing as how at least 2 out of 3 folk from Jesus Jones/the shop assistants and possibly carter have been on STW,

Shop assistants? Who? This is getting into geeky link territory

Shop assistants > [url=

Pastels > Teenage Fanclub > Captain America/eugenious > The [url=

Vaselines > Nirvana best festival hour - in daylight! - check out the stage dancing!! - they were slicker in '92

theboatman,

Me and my missus had a pact that if one of us died that would be played at the funeral - only I'd have the [url=

Young version

Something more mellow - [url=

She soooo cute.

Btw.... Noteeth, after Carter went their own ways, Fruitbat set up band called Abdoujaparov (who I had the honour of supporting in Cambridge ;o)so would tie well in with the Carter/ cycling theory!

There must be something about indie bands and cycling. To Carter USM and Jesus Jones I can add Half Man Half Biscuit:

A Lilac Harry Quinn

(and I'm sure there are some other obscure references in their lyrics)

When they played Cornbury last year Nigel's opening words were "Andy Schleck - outside bet".

Dammit, going to be up for hours after this thread!

Carter were keen cyclists, iirc.

Fruit bat was a roadie and used to get dropped off on the tour and ride the last bit to a gig! I was on one of the Carter vidoes, stage diving. The clip made it on top of the pops!

Bit poppy for my taste but the old school vibe made me remember the Miltown Brothers!

First Manic's song I liked

Paw - Jessie

Ministry

So many more on YouTube...

Becoming offtopic, but... Squarewheels wrote: "Btw.... Noteeth, after Carter went their own ways, Fruitbat set up band called Abdoujaparov"

And they were AWFUL  Jimbob brings the words, Les brings the guitars, that's the law. Break the law and bad things happen. The School album, and "Maria's Umb-a-rella". Respect the law, and you get another 2 Carter reform shows next month.

Quick Carter story- I know a guy, let's call him Robert, because that's his name. Robert is one of the world's great Carter obsessives, but due to bad timing never saw them live first time round. So, after years of quiet fanboyism, Jimbob acoustic shows, Abdou gigs, Who's The Daddy and Jim's Super Stereoworld albums and whatnot, Carter reform, and Robert has an unexpected chance to make his life complete! We all get tickets for the Barras... Robert gets a little excited. His whole life has been leading up to this moment! This is going to be the best night ever! Let's have a drink to celebrate! And another! Why not, another! And then he gets kicked out of the gig before Carter come on, and have to listen to the show through the air conditioning vents  Once in a blue your dreams come true...

thanks everyone, for taking me back to some great times. And for 'wasting' a full hour of my time when I should have been doing other things.

here's a few more to the pot:

(appears to be from Wogan?)

and they've done better songs but I had to post this one

and another from the late great John Peel's festive fifty (how I miss that man). I also think the only time a flexi disc made #1? Anyone else remember these Palace fans?

I'm feeling the love from the other Space Cudette posting up there - just wonderful live.

Jesus Jones - how good did Info Freako sound when you first heard it?

Just to give the old indie kids something else to fill their day:

memory lane!

anyone remember ultra vivid scene?

the pale saints?

I was a big carter fan. I remember seeing them in front of 200 in some dingy club in oxford and then 18 months later in front of tens of thousands at Reading festival.
