Well, tomorrow actually since I got my first ‘mountain bike’, I was 9. It was a Black Rock, I’m not sure whether that was the make or the model name. Can anyone remember these bikes? I’d love to see a photo of one. It was black with huge bull bars. Sadly it was stolen and replaced with a Raleigh Max a few years later.
sergeant pepper taught the band to play?

Coventry Eagle! That's it. Full marks to Johnjohn. Thanks
You've just reminded me that it was 20 years ago tomorrow that I got my first proper mountainbike, I was 13 and it was a Kona Hahannah!
The memories have just flooded back looking at that photo. Think I might get some Bull Bars for my Soul 8)
More than 20 years ago and my first bike was one of these.........

Edit: mine had stabilisers though
My first bike was a hand me down chopper. 😀 Good for sharpening biking handling skills.
20 years ago I was riding a Roberts White Spider. I still have the rather rusty frame and forks.
23 years ago this evening I met my now Wife.
*She didn't come with wheels and I didn't go for a ride. Ahmm. 😉
Twenty years ago I was riding this, and thought MTB'ers were the scum of the earth.

got my first proper mountain bike in 1986, was riding BMX and thought a mountain bike would "fall to bits" but it was surprisingly fun and quite tough

that raleigh jungle makes me feel old. I remember the little lad next door had one of those. Looked cool though.
There's a few on eBay, tempted to get one for my little boy. Not sure the retro/sentimental value will mean anything to a 2 yr old...
