wow there is so much anger on this forum. i've only been here a few months but have been really surprised by the number of arguments, especially ones that get personal :O

whoops that had nothing to do with the topic did it....err well i bought my magazine from a newsagents in the centre of london, as i have done since about issue 58. strange thing is i can never find it in any of the big 'whsmiths' type places for some reason - always end up in this little gaff in the tube station near work.

I've not got mine either, but neither have I got WMTB which is also out in Smiths. There are also various parcels that were apparently dispatched 2-3 weeks ago that still haven't arrived. I don't think we can blame ST for this one. Most of the time I get my issue within a day or so of when they say I will.

Where is STW printed, and how come all the newsagents have copies and we the subscriberes dont. Not all the country has been snowed under just the scots who were to tight to buy enough salt 😀

What tis the responce from Royal cockup mail, surely they know which postie has failed in their job sorting out the delivery schedule.

In sunny wirrla ,we have had no snow, a bit of frost, and the postie arrives about 10.30am, without STW, so just what has happened to the delivery , oh and our mail is delivered from Chester again no snow or bad weather.

Its just total incompetence from royal mail soon to be privatised to teach them a lesson hopefully.

Petty rant mode off.

Still not here in Derby. To be fair the first 61 all appeared promptly and my life does not depend on it. It will turn up sometime and sure I will enjoy it when it does.

Singletrack is printed in Bourne, Lincs. That's where RM collected it from early last week. They collect the issues on one big batch and it goes via a service called Presstream. This is a bulk mail service that requires us to presort the mail down to local depot level. This means that these copies can bypass the first two levels of sorting and get delivered directly to your local depot ready for the postie to pop in his bag and deliver to you. This service has a promise of delivery in up to 3 days from collection.

I'm still waiting for an official response from RM as to why this has happened and to when they are likely to have cleared the backlog. It's frustrating because priority is given to the other mail services before Presstream, despite the fact that to access this service we do the vast majority of RM's sorting work for them. But still, it seems when working through the backlog of mail RM give priority to 1st class then 2nd class and then Presstream and mailsort (junk mail comes via mailsort). I'm quite annoyed that RM consider paid for subscription copies of magazines to be no better than junk mail when it comes to prioritising deliveries.

Anyway, frustrated rants aside there are a few things we can do to try and reduce the chances of this happening again in the future. Those measures will kick in from issue 64 (March issue)

As soon as I hear from RM I will update this thread.

Sincerely,

Mark, there is something you could do right now (rather than from issue 64) - give us a free download of this issue.

What matthewlhome said..

The story on the front page has had a download version of the mag for several days now.

If you haven't yet upgraded your sub (for free) to premier then you need to do that before you can access the file. subs@singletrackworld.com with your name, username on here and your subs address and we'll get that switched on for you.

As a forum I think everyone has SAD - a few dark nights and anger management problems and depression abound.

A magazine is a few days late, no-one has died, it's really not the end of the world (although I suspect a few posties might get it from some forum members soon)

Given the problems faced by Royal Mail this December I suspect it's well down their priority list. I went to collect a parcel from my sorting office yesterday and there were packages stacked up from floor to ceiling.

I looked on the site earlier this am for the upgrade option only to find that this service was temporarily disabled in the run up to Christmas.

The form to upgrade will be back up and running shortly. The reason it was down was because of the sheer number of upgrade requests we had been getting. We've cleared through the backlog now and we are ready to go again..

Still not arrived in Glencoe, and only 2 pieces of mail again today. Bizarrely, 1 was posted on the 15th. I'm not going to do the free upgrade to Premier thingy because I like the paperyness of the magazine plus you're all busy enough anyway.

Not moaning, it just says somewhere that these updates are useful 🙂
